Day 2 EGR 150
Today is Day 2 of EGR 150 Introduction to Engineering. We started by assisting one another is overcoming technical difficulties in setting up our personal computers and connecting them to the local network. We also discussed our objectives for this week as outlined on our Week 1 Agenda. We gained access to and discussed our course resource page and course syllabus, which we are required to comment on over the next week. Mrs. Vestal hopes to take our comments into consideration as she creates future course outlines/syllabi. Next, we forged a new path as each student created a Gmail account for this course and created a blog (this blog) to accompany that email address. Throughout the semester, our blog will serve as a record of our daily activities, assignments, experiences, and discussions. This week, Mrs. Vestal has asked us to read Chapter 12 of A Guide to Writing as an Engineer to help us grasp the "adventure" that is maintaining a blog. We are also tasked with signing up for our online engineering lab and creating a google document:"Share a Tree" assignment. Mrs. Vestal shared with us today that we might be taking a field trip to see a 3D printer this semester. I saw a 3D printer at a business conference once. I wonder if 3D printers will revolutionize online shopping? What if 3D printers became a normal household appliance that linked up to Amazon or the Internet and produced the items we bought virtually? Companies would no longer need to ship items thousands of miles. Of course, this is a hypothetical situation, but it would be really awesome!
